Message: Hi gang (and Puke),

This mail turned out pretty long so no need to read it all out loud on the podcast.

I just want to comment on the “buy a new(er) car”-thing.

November 2014 I jumped into deep water. For the first time in my life I borrowed money to buy a car! I had a “nice for its age but still kind of old and starting to be crappy” Audi A3 from 1999. It was very well taken care of by me since 2007 but tender loving care only takes you so far.

After thinking about getting a newer car for literally 2 years (I just didn’t feel like my financial situation was good enough – I’m kinda like Nick as far as nervous about money goes) I decided to take the plunge and get a 2012 (35 000 miles) Volvo V50 with a boring but very financially sound 115 hp diesel engine.

It was about $17500 and I’m paying $233/mo for five years ($4500 down), but it is WORTH IT!

Since buying it, I have had ZERO problems. Not even a “stupid grinding noise I can’t find the source of” or a burnt out lightbulb. Nothing. It just works. And I get about 43-47 MPG.

Actually, this car is cheaper per mile for me than the old Audi, even including depreciation, because of the low fuel consumption and lack of broken parts that need fixing.

I know this will change one day, but in about 4 years I’m intending to switch to another 2 year old car. I feel like that’s pretty much the sweet spot on the price/value-chart.

Anyway, I don’t want to make Nick even more depressed about the choice to fix the Subaru, it’s not a disaster because now it can be sold as a car, not as parts…

Message: Hello children.

Where the fuck are my podcasts? 221 and 222 are no where to be found. The feed on your site doesn’t even show them. I use podcast addict if that helps.

I have remained calm so far but this shit will not fly for long. I demand a speedy response. Nick’s soothing voice is the only thing that can quiet the screams inside.

I pay top dollar for this free “entertainment” so make it snappy you filthy Jews.
