This is mostly for Andrew as you can tell from the subject…
I’m in the US on vacation at the moment (in Florida, returning home tomorrow), and have noticed something that Andrew can probably relate to while driving my rental car around for the past 10 days.
At the red lights: first of all, people seem to sit and think about shit instead of being prepared for the green light turning on. There’s almost always a second before anyone start moving.
Secondly, when they actually move, they seem to be in no hurry whatsoever! If I’m in the front, I see it as my mission to get up to the legal speed (or faster) as quickly as possible. This means I’m 50 yards ahead of everyone else in a matter of seconds. With a Toyota Corolla…
Is this common behavior in all of America or just a Florida thing caused by old people and tourists?
Btw the USD is so fucking expensive (compared to Swedish SEK) right now, I almost cry every time I pay for something, other than gasoline which is still dirt cheap (back home it’s around $5.50/gal). Your benefit for being world police I guess…

Andrew I would suggest a ceramic or high impact plastic tile floor or a stained and sealed concrete on garage floor or get some fire proof welding blankets, The enamel floor coating looks nice but if your going to use a torch or welder hot slag will burn the coating.
Oh and the leak in your windshield should be a easy fix for any auto glass man. About 100 bucks
You are risking corrosion in the pinch weld and roof panel not to mention mold in the head liner all will cost a great deal more.

Message: I try to keep my screws and bolts and shit in their original packaging. I’ll also put a piece of duct tape on the box. With a sharpie, I’ll add:
Wood screws: Size and length, clearance drill Ø, and pilot drill Ø
Metal Screws: Size and length, clearance and tap drill Ø
For smaller screws and bolts, a cheap tackle box or the carrying case for the clear dividers also works, put the label on the lid above the screw so you know where it is.
Garage:
Walls:multiple hinged gates with pegboard on both sides keeps like tools together. I’m a fan of shadow boarding once you’re pretty sure it’s set up right.
Ceiling:
Open beam: make mini-bookcases that would fit between the rafters, hinge the top end, add a rope with an eye screw, when the bookshelf is pulled up, I use a small block to pivot and hold the shelf in place. Again, label the backside so when you want to find your sandpaper, you lower the right case. Not recommended for liquids.
Finished ceiling: 2 options. You can go bookcase route or: important!!! Buy a metric fuck-ton of same sized storage totes when on sale. Then AND ONLY THEN mount the 1½” face of a 2X4 90º to studs. Screw another 2X4 below to create an upside down “T”. Now make another short “T” to use as a reference. Grab 1 empty tote, use your reference “T” and mark the spacing, then install as many rails as desired. I have (8) rows, X 3 deep using his. Also, duct tape and label the bottom of the totes so when they’re suspended, you can see what’s inside. It’s not great for tools, but is for seasonal things.
Workbench: The bottom shelf is useless unless your either a midget or trying to get a blowjob while working. Never happens. So that being said, take your mountable power tools and put them on a 24″X24″ piece of 3/4″ plywood and put those things on the bottom shelf. Cut a 24″ X 24″ hole in your 3/4″ benchtop. Under the hole, put a 30″ X 30″ piece of 3/4″ plywood. To secure these jigs, install a 1/2″ T-nut to the bottom side of the 30″ X 30″ INSIDE the 24″ X 24″ frame. Drill clearance holes in the power tool mounts and now you have a useable workbench and your power tools are securely mounted when you need them.
Hinged fold down benches are OK to hold materials for projects. Don’t rely on them to take the abuse a workbench usually gets.
Seriously, my friends joke they wish they had my OCD. No, they don’t. It really sucks that everything has to be in order always. If you can strike a balance between organization and cluttered efficiency, I would think that might be healthy.
